Delhi's cabinet has approved a proposal to establish its own State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for enhanced disaster management. Currently, the capital relies on national agencies and local services for rescue operations. The new SDRF will be headed by an IG-rank officer and comprise 1,050 personnel, with 18 teams distributed across districts and reserves. This move aims to bolster Delhi's preparedness for natural and man-made disasters, especially after recent incidents like a building collapse and concerns over seismic vulnerability.
