Kerala Govt Sanctions ₹63.37 Cr To Clear Paddy Procurement Liability

Times of India · business

The Kerala government has sanctioned ₹63.37 crore to clear the financial liability incurred by SupplyCo in procuring paddy during the 2022-23 season. This amount will compensate mill owners who processed paddy after the Centre refused to reduce the prescribed out-turn ratio (OTR) from 68% to 64.5%. Mill owners argued that the yield of usable rice from paddy is lower than the central norm, especially for paddy grown in the Kuttanad region. The state government previously agreed in 2018 to bear the financial difference until the Centre revised the ratio.
