India's First Bullet Train Stations To Be 100ft Underground and Undersea

Aaj Tak · india

India's first bullet train is taking shape, with preparations underway for tracks, bridges, and stations. The high-speed train is expected to begin operations on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai high-speed track by the last quarter of 2027. One station in Mumbai is being constructed approximately 100 feet below ground, featuring three levels including platforms and service areas. Additionally, a 7-kilometer-long tunnel is being built beneath the Thane Creek, marking India's first undersea rail tunnel. This ambitious project involves massive tunnel boring machines, some of the largest ever used in India.
