Odisha Forms Commission to Restore Backward Class Quota in Local Body Polls

Odisha has established a commission, led by retired Justice Pramath Patnaik, to study the political backwardness of Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBCs). This move aims to restore reservation for the community in panchayat and urban local body elections, which was dropped in 2020 due to legal issues.
