Senior Congress legislator B.R. Patil has appealed to Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi to intervene and restore safeguards for agricultural lands in Karnataka. These safeguards, originally introduced in 1974, barred non-agriculturalists from purchasing farmland and were repealed by the previous BJP government in 2021. Patil highlighted that nearly 20 lakh acres of agricultural land have been sold since the repeal. He expressed concern over the reduction of land for cultivation, the impact on small farmers, the rural economy, and food security, urging a policy review.

वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस विधायक बी.आर. पाटील ने लोकसभा नेता राहुल गांधी से हस्तक्षेप करने और कर्नाटक में कृषि भूमि के लिए संरक्षण को बहाल करने की अपील की है। ये संरक्षण, जो मूल रूप से 1974 में पेश किए गए थे, गैर-कृषि लोगों को कृषि भूमि खरीदने से रोकते थे और 2021 में पिछली भाजपा सरकार द्वारा निरस्त कर दिए गए थे। पाटील ने बताया कि निरसन के बाद से लगभग 20 लाख एकड़ कृषि भूमि बेची जा चुकी है। उन्होंने खेती के लिए भूमि में कमी, छोटे किसानों पर प्रभाव, ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्था और खाद्य सुरक्षा के बारे में चिंता व्यक्त की, और नीति की समीक्षा का आग्रह किया।
