Pakistan to Chair IMF and World Bank Board of Governors in 2027

Pakistan has been nominated to become the next IMF and the WBG for the year 2027. This marks Pakistan's return to this position for the first time since 1953. The nomination comes as Pakistan is heavily reliant on IMF loans, currently receiving funds under a $7 billion Extended Fund Facility program and a $1.4 billion Resilience and Sustainability Facility.
