Union Minister Denies Coal Shortage Amidst Rising Stocks

Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy stated there is no coal shortage in India, despite a rise in thermal power plants with critical coal stocks to 82. Data shows these plants had 21.8 million tonnes of coal, about 37% of the normative requirement. This number has increased significantly from 45 plants with critical stocks on September 1. The Power Ministry is considering mandating imported coal use for thermal plants due to the worsening stock situation. Reddy also discussed investment opportunities in West Bengal's mining and coal sectors.

केंद्रीय कोयला और खान मंत्री जी किशन रेड्डी ने कहा कि भारत में कोयले की कोई कमी नहीं है, भले ही थर्मल पावर प्लांटों में गंभीर कोयला स्टॉक के साथ 82 तक की वृद्धि हुई है। डेटा से पता चलता है कि इन संयंत्रों के पास 21.8 मिलियन टन कोयला था, जो सामान्य आवश्यकता का लगभग 37% है। यह संख्या 1 सितंबर को गंभीर स्टॉक वाले 45 संयंत्रों से काफी बढ़ गई है। पावर मंत्रालय कोयला स्टॉक की बिगड़ती स्थिति के कारण थर्मल संयंत्रों के लिए आयातित कोयले के उपयोग को अनिवार्य करने पर विचार कर रहा है। रेड्डी ने पश्चिम बंगाल के खनन और कोयला क्षेत्रों में निवेश के अवसरों पर भी चर्चा की।
