Fugitive Businessman Wanted In US Bribery Case Taken Into Custody

A businessman wanted for years in the US for allegedly bribing top Venezuelan officials has been taken into custody. Alvaro Pulido was indicted in Miami federal court in 2019 and again in 2021. American officials confirmed his arrest on Sunday, following an investigation by the DEA, FBI, and Homeland Security Investigations. Prosecutors allege Pulido and his partner funneled bribes to Maduro allies for over $2 billion in contracts. Pulido was previously arrested in Venezuela in 2023.
