Protests demanding the restoration of student union elections at Aligarh Muslim University intensified on their 13th day. The situation escalated when a Proctorial team, accompanied by police, took four youths from MM Hall to the Proctor's office for questioning. Late night, students locked the campus gates, which the Proctorial team subsequently broke open and re-locked. Three of the detained youths were confirmed as bonafide AMU students and released, while a fourth, Areej, with prior police cases, was taken into custody, sparking further student protests at the Proctor's office.
