Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, calling it crucial for safeguarding democracy. He stated that clean and accurate voter lists are fundamental to fair elections, as duplicate or outdated entries can compromise their integrity. The SIR process aims to identify discrepancies and remove ineligible voters while protecting the rights of legitimate citizens. In Odisha, over 17 lakh names were deleted, and the final roll shows 3.16 crore electors, a decrease from the previous 3.33 crore.
