Punjab Accuses Centre of Inaction on Drug Supply Chain Despite Repeated Appeals
Times of India · politics
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has accused the BJP-led Centre of failing to act against pharmaceutical manufacturers in other states whose products are allegedly misused as intoxicants. Despite Punjab's repeated appeals and letters, and, seeking stricter laws, the Centre has not responded concretely. Cheema stated that over 80,000 arrests have been made in Punjab as part of its anti-drug drive, but the supply of misused medicines originates from states like Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
