India Launches Three Indigenous AI Models To Compete With ChatGPT

India has launched three indigenous AI models named EKA-1, Dhir 2B, and Dhir 5B, developed in collaboration with the IndiaAI Mission. These models are designed to focus on Indian languages and business needs, aiming to reduce reliance on foreign AI. Two of the models, Dhir 2B and Dhir 5B, can function offline on devices without needing cloud servers. EKA-1, developed by Soket Labs, is a large, open hybrid language model capable of complex tasks and understanding all scheduled Indian languages, particularly suited for banking, financial services, and cybersecurity.
