Bizarre Cricket Rule: Wide Ball Goes For Six, Batter Gets Only Five Runs
Times of India · sports
A peculiar incident occurred during a T10 cricket league semi-final where a delivery from bowler Ali Khan was deemed a wide and cleared the boundary for what appeared to be a six. However, umpires awarded only five runs to the batting team, Toronto Sixers. According to MCC laws, a six is only awarded if the ball is hit by the bat. If the ball crosses the boundary without being struck, it is treated as a four, with an additional run for the wide.
