Veteran actor Shabana Azmi revealed her cultural connection to Islam, enjoying Eid, Urdu, and food, but stated she has no religious association and does not perform namaz. Influenced by her atheist father, Kaifi Azmi, she believes faith is a private matter and the state should not interfere. Azmi also noted that her husband, Javed Akhtar, is a staunch atheist. She views the current societal conflict as a fight between liberals and the intolerant, rather than between Hindus and Muslims. Azmi was last seen in the period drama 'Batwara 1947'.
