A wildlife charity has successfully transformed 335 hectares of farmland in Dorset into one of England's newest National Nature Reserves. Acquired for conservation and restoration, the site at Lyscombe, near Dorchester, was formally declared a reserve by Natural England on August 17, with its new status celebrated on September 15. The landscape includes chalk grassland, ancient woodland, and historic features like the 12th-century Lyscombe Chapel. Conservation efforts involve removing old fencing, introducing cattle for grazing, and restoring the Little Piddle stream to create wetland habitats.
