Kharge Urges PM Modi to Release ₹3,705 Crore Aid for Drought-Hit Karnataka

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting urgent central assistance of ₹3,705.30 crore for Karnataka, which is facing a severe drought. Kharge highlighted the potential for this to be the worst drought in 150 years, citing crop losses estimated at over ₹18,748 crore. He urged the release of funds from the National Disaster Relief Fund and requested an assessment of drinking water shortages and reservoir levels. The letter also called for updated land records to be used for calculating input subsidies for farmers.

कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे ने कर्नाटक के लिए ₹3,705.30 करोड़ की तत्काल केंद्रीय सहायता का अनुरोध करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को पत्र लिखा है, जो गंभीर सूखे का सामना कर रहा है। खड़गे ने कहा कि यह 150 वर्षों का सबसे खराब सूखा हो सकता है, जिससे ₹18,748 करोड़ से अधिक का फसल नुकसान हुआ है। उन्होंने नेशनल डिजास्टर रिलीफ फंड से धन जारी करने और पीने के पानी की कमी और जलाशयों के स्तर का आकलन करने का आग्रह किया। पत्र में किसानों के लिए इनपुट सब्सिडी की गणना के लिए अद्यतन भूमि रिकॉर्ड का उपयोग करने का भी आह्वान किया गया है।
