Writer Accuses Vayalar Award Winner of Plagiarism; Seeks Reconsideration

Times of India · interesting

Writer Vinayasree has alleged that the novel which won this year's Vayalar Award contains plagiarized ideas and dialogues from her own Mahabharata-based works. She stated that while writers can draw inspiration from epics, direct reproduction of character portrayals and narrative elements warrants literary examination. Vinayasree has submitted a complaint to state ministers and the award committee, urging a review of the allegations and the novel's originality before the award was granted. She believes the award should not have been given without an independent assessment of the work's authenticity.
