Fuel Card Company to Pay $100 Million Over Hidden Fees to Small Businesses

Times of India · business

Fuel card provider FleetCor Technologies, now Corpay, has agreed to pay $100 million to settle allegations of charging small businesses hundreds of millions in undisclosed fees. The company marketed its services as a way to cut petrol costs, but the Federal Trade Commission found it violated consumer protection law. Customers were allegedly charged a range of undisclosed or unauthorised fees, including late fees even when payments were made on time. The billing system allegedly made these charges difficult to notice, with some fees appearing only after several billing cycles.
