Recent evening rains in Madurai have caused severe waterlogging, exacerbating problems for residents following a week-long conservancy workers' strike. Uncollected garbage accumulated on roadsides was washed into stormwater drains, blocking them and leading to inundation on major streets. Residents reported that floating waste spread across neighborhoods, complicating cleanup efforts. Areas like Keeraithurai and Kamarajar Salai are expected to be most affected as monsoon rains approach. Corporation officials stated that sanitation workers are now working overtime to clear drains and address the flooding.

मधुरै में हाल ही में हुई शाम की बारिश ने गंभीर जलभराव की समस्या पैदा कर दी है, जो एक हफ़्ते से चल रही सफाई कर्मचारियों की हड़ताल के बाद निवासियों के लिए मुश्किलें और बढ़ा रही है। सड़कों के किनारे जमा हुआ बिना उठाया गया कूड़ा बारिश के पानी के साथ बहकर तूफान नालियों में चला गया, जिससे वे जाम हो गईं और मुख्य सड़कों पर पानी भर गया। निवासियों ने बताया कि बहता हुआ कचरा मोहल्लों में फैल गया, जिससे सफाई के काम में और दिक्कतें आ रही हैं। कीरैथुरई और कामराज सलाई जैसे इलाकों में मानसून की बारिश नज़दीक आने के साथ सबसे ज़्यादा असर पड़ने की उम्मीद है।
