Women's Share in NAPS Apprenticeship Scheme Remains Below One-Third
Business Standard · education
Women constituted only 29.5 per cent of apprentices engaged under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) in the current financial year so far. This figure remains below the government's goal of increasing female participation, despite ongoing efforts like apprenticeship melas and stakeholder consultations. Out of 1.35 million apprentices, approximately 399,000 were women, highlighting persistent concerns about low female workforce engagement in India. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is actively working to boost women's involvement across various sectors.
