India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is planning to make the AEBS mandatory for all M1 category cars by October 2032. This feature, a part of ADAS, can automatically apply brakes when a collision is imminent. The government has released a draft notification, inviting public suggestions for 30 days. The phased implementation aims to gradually increase safety, with specific timelines for new models and existing ones. Additional safety features for steering and lane keeping are also being considered.
