LIC Agents, Brokers Oppose IRDAI's Proposed Distribution Norms Over Livelihood Concerns

Bodies representing Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) agents and insurance brokers have urged the IRDAI to reconsider proposed reforms to distribution norms, citing potential negative impacts on jobs and livelihoods. The Life Insurance Agents’ Federation of India (LIAFI) stated that cost efficiency measures should not reduce the number of active agents or make the profession unsustainable. They emphasized that commissions are essential for agents' livelihoods and argued that regulatory measures should distinguish between intentional misconduct and genuine errors.
