FCNR(B) Deposit Repayments Could Reach $170 Billion, Says Uday Kotak

Veteran banker Uday Kotak estimates that the repayment bill for FCNR(B) deposits, including interest, could reach $160 to $170 billion. He praised the Reserve Bank of India and the government's decision to implement the scheme, calling it a crucial insurance policy amidst global conflicts and rising US bond yields. Kotak also noted that total foreign investment in India stands at approximately $1.5 trillion. He attributed the surge in domestic investment partly to the tax difference between capital gains on shares and high interest income tax rates.

अनुभवी बैंकर उदय कोटक का अनुमान है कि ब्याज सहित एफ सी एन आर (बी) जमा की वापसी का बिल 160 से 170 अरब डॉलर तक पहुंच सकता है। उन्होंने इस योजना को लागू करने के लिए भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक और सरकार के फैसले की सराहना की, इसे वैश्विक संघर्षों और बढ़ते अमेरिकी बॉन्ड यील्ड के बीच एक महत्वपूर्ण बीमा पॉलिसी बताया। कोटक ने यह भी नोट किया कि भारत में कुल विदेशी निवेश लगभग 1.5 ट्रिलियन डॉलर है। उन्होंने घरेलू निवेश में वृद्धि का श्रेय आंशिक रूप से शेयरों पर पूंजीगत लाभ और उच्च ब्याज आय कर दरों के बीच कर अंतर को दिया।
