Pakistani General Becomes First Commander of Mecca Pact

Pakistan has appointed retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the first Secretary General of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement. This pact, formed in August with Saudi Arabia and Turkey, mandates a collective response if any member nation is attacked. Mahmood's father, Lieutenant Colonel Raja Sultan Mahmood, was killed fighting the Indian Army in the 1971 war. This appointment marks a significant military alliance aimed at collective security among the three nations.
