UPI Transactions May Face New Charges

The government has proposed levying a fee or merchant discount rate on certain Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions. This charge will not apply to individual users, but aims to cover the costs incurred by UPI operators for maintaining the digital public infrastructure. These costs include ensuring the platform remains safe, secure, and technologically updated. The government argues this is a small fee on a limited volume of transactions.

सरकार ने कुछ UPI ट्रांजैक्शन पर एक छोटी सी फीस या मर्चेंट डिस्काउंट रेट लगाने का प्रस्ताव दिया है। यह फीस आम यूजर्स पर नहीं लगेगी। इसका मकसद UPI ऑपरेटर्स के डिजिटल इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर को बनाए रखने का खर्च निकालना है, ताकि प्लेटफॉर्म सुरक्षित और अपडेटेड रहे। सरकार का कहना है कि यह फीस कुछ ही ट्रांजैक्शन पर लगेगी।
