Odisha has ramped up malaria surveillance and containment efforts following the reporting of 37,899 cases and nine deaths this year until August. Health officials have directed field teams in malaria-prone districts to enhance active case detection, rapid testing, and immediate treatment, especially in high-burden areas. Surveillance has been strengthened from the sub-centre level, with health workers tasked to screen individuals exhibiting fever and malaria-like symptoms. Anti-malaria activities, including drug distribution and vector control, have been scaled up to reduce the malaria burden and prevent complications.
