Sportstar · sports

Lasith Malinga's departure from the Mumbai Indians coaching staff signifies the end of a significant association that helped shape the franchise's identity. Malinga, who joined in 2009, was crucial to four of their five IPL titles, notably defending seven runs in the 2019 final's last over. His influence extended to developing Jasprit Bumrah into a world-class bowler. Rejoining as bowling coach in 2024, his exit removes a deep well of experience in fast bowling and death bowling expertise.
