Landslide on Pollachi-Valparai Ghat Road Disrupts Traffic for 21 Hours

Heavy rains triggered a landslide on the Pollachi-Valparai Ghat Road on Tuesday night, causing massive boulders to block the carriageway. The disruption lasted for nearly 21 hours, leaving scores of tourists and commuters stranded. Efforts to clear the road involved heavy machinery and rock drills due to the size of the boulders. The incident, which occurred near the third hairpin bend, cut off the main road link between Pollachi and Valparai. Essential supplies, including milk, were also affected by the closure.

मंगलवार रात भारी बारिश के कारण पोल्लाची-वाळपराई घाट रोड पर भूस्खलन हुआ, जिससे बड़े-बड़े पत्थर सड़क पर आ गए। यह रुकावट करीब 21 घंटे तक चली, जिससे कई पर्यटक और यात्री फंसे रहे। पत्थरों के बड़े आकार के कारण सड़क साफ करने के काम में भारी मशीनरी और रॉक ड्रिल का इस्तेमाल किया गया। तीसरे हेयरपिन बेंड के पास हुई इस घटना ने पोल्लाची और वाळपराई के बीच मुख्य सड़क संपर्क काट दिया। दूध सहित ज़रूरी सामान की आपूर्ति भी बंद रहने से प्रभावित हुई।
