Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that Mumtaz Begum, a 43-year-old woman sent to Bangladesh in June, is safe and in contact with her son. However, her 26-year-old son, Momruz Ali, claims he has had no contact with his mother and received no official communication. He has appealed to the Assam and Indian governments to find his mother, whether she is in India or Bangladesh.
