Punjab Chief Secretary Gets Contempt Notice From High Court Over DA Arrears
Times of India · india
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a contempt notice to Punjab Chief Secretary K A P Sinha regarding the Dearness Allowance (DA) case. The court observed that despite the Chief Secretary acknowledging the state's liability to pay DA with interest, the Punjab government and PSPCL failed to comply with the August 3 order. The pending DA and Dearness Relief liability in Punjab is approximately Rs 32,418 crore. The court rejected the argument that pursuing a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court without a stay order justifies non-compliance.
