Indian equities surged 1.6% on Tuesday, marking their biggest single-day gain in over two months. This rally was fueled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's comments acknowledging the debate around securities transaction tax (STT), raising hopes for a potential review. The Nifty 50 closed at 22,722, and the Sensex advanced to 73,034. Despite ongoing concerns about crude oil prices and foreign investor selling, IT stocks also contributed to the gains. Sitharaman stated it is healthy to have this debate and she will be keenly hearing them.
