Unique Temple Opens Only For 11 Days Annually During Navratri

The Dandumarama temple in Odisha's Gajapati district, dedicated to Goddess Dandamaramma, follows a unique tradition of opening its doors for only 11 days each year. These days coincide with the Navaratri puja celebrations and the second Tuesday after Dussehra. Devotees from Odisha and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh visit the temple during this brief period to seek blessings. The temple doors remain closed on all other days, a practice passed down through generations. A coconut offered before closing is found intact upon reopening.
