Mumbai police have filed a 700-page chargesheet against Fayyaz Premji, a 39-year-old Pune resident, for allegedly attempting to poison 15,000 people during a Moharrum procession in June. Premji allegedly ordered over 50 kg of zinc phosphide and assembled 15,000 poisonous capsules at a Dongri lodge. He reportedly distributed these capsules, passing them off as painkillers and immunity boosters. One participant reported vomiting and discomfort after consuming a capsule. Premji claimed the capsules were for pain relief during self-flagellation, but police detained him before he could distribute more.
