Times of India · politics

Kolkata's Suruchi Sangha Durga Puja this year features a pandal dedicated to Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 125th birth anniversary. The theme, "Utsa," conceptualised by artist Anirban Das, explores Mookerjee's political thought, writings, and historical moments through archival photographs and visual installations. The presentation aims to highlight his role in Bengal's political history and the debates surrounding Partition. This shift in theme follows a change in the puja committee's leadership, now including BJP MLA Sourav Sikdar.
