Indian Cardiologists Warn of Rising Heart Attacks in Younger Patients

Times of India · health

Leading Indian cardiologists convened for the TOI Medithon, highlighting the increasing prevalence of heart disease among younger individuals. Experts attributed this trend to sedentary lifestyles, stress, smoking, and rising rates of diabetes and high blood pressure. Warning signs such as chest pressure, breathlessness, and nausea were discussed, with an emphasis on seeking immediate medical attention. Doctors stressed that prompt angioplasty within an hour of a heart attack is crucial, and while angiograms detect blockages, not all require stents, with medicines or bypass surgery being alternatives.
