AIIMS Doctor Reveals Common Mistake During Home Blood Sugar Checks
Aaj Tak · health
Many individuals now check their blood sugar levels at home using glucometers. However, AIIMS New Delhi Professor Dr. Rajesh Khadgawat highlights a common error that can lead to inaccurate readings. He advises patients to relax, keep their arm below hip level, and use the second blood drop for testing, not the first. Pressing the finger to force blood out can damage surrounding cells and affect results. The first drop may contain skin fluids or contaminants, skewing the sugar level measurement.
