Hoshiarpur Villagers Face Plot Cancellation After 31 Years

Thirty-one years after 134 villagers from Scheduled Caste and Backward Class categories were allotted five-marla plots in New Chandigarh, their eligibility is now being questioned. The panchayat is moving to repossess 115 plots, while 19 have been transferred to GMADA for road construction. Villagers claim the allotments were valid and dispute the cancellation, citing a pending case and lack of consent for land transfer. They are seeking restoration of plots or compensation.

न्यू चंडीगढ़ में अनुसूचित जाति और पिछड़ा वर्ग श्रेणी के 134 ग्रामीणों को पांच-पांच मरला प्लॉट आवंटित किए जाने के 31 साल बाद, अब उनकी पात्रता पर सवाल उठाया जा रहा है। पंचायत 115 प्लॉट वापस लेने की प्रक्रिया में है, जबकि 19 प्लॉट सड़क निर्माण के लिए GMADA को हस्तांतरित किए गए हैं। ग्रामीणों का दावा है कि आवंटन वैध थे और वे भूमि हस्तांतरण के लिए सहमति की कमी और लंबित मामले का हवाला देते हुए रद्दीकरण का विरोध कर रहे हैं। वे प्लॉट की बहाली या मुआवजा मांग रहे हैं।
