Nagpur's Groundwater Quality Questioned Amid Water Scarcity Concerns
Times of India · environment
Nagpur faces potential water scarcity, with its 5,948 wells and borewells offering an alternative. However, groundwater quality is a concern, as revealed by Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) findings. Excessive fluoride levels were detected in 12 out of 57 tested samples, with eight deemed unfit for consumption. While other tested parameters like nitrates and heavy metals were within limits, the overall safety of this groundwater for drinking remains uncertain. CGWB recommends periodic testing and sealing of contaminated wells.
