China Urges Iran, US Restraint Over Strait

China has urged Iran and the United States to exercise restraint and return to consultations to ease regional tensions. Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi, in Beijing, calling for measures to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. China seeks stable energy flows and warned against tensions spilling into Yemen and the Red Sea. Beijing believes the current Middle East security architecture needs reform.
