Doon Study Flags Health Risks From Kitchen Emissions And Excavation Dust

Times of India · environment

A Doon University study has identified significant health risks associated with particulate pollution from restaurant kitchen emissions and road excavation dust in Dehradun. Researchers recorded high PM2.5 levels in kitchens and PM10 at excavation sites, with fine particles capable of reaching deep into the lungs. The study found older individuals had the highest estimated particle deposition, though vulnerability depends on various factors. Researchers recommend improved ventilation in eateries and dust control at construction sites, urging better coordination among government agencies to prevent repeated road digging.
