Maharashtra to Appoint Two Special Prosecutors Per District To Fast-Track PCPNDT Cases

Maharashtra will appoint two special public prosecutors in each district to expedite cases related to illegal sex determination and sex-selective abortions. Neelam Gorhe, head of the state task force, announced this initiative to improve the implementation of the PCPNDT and MTP Acts. A joint standard operating procedure will be developed by the health and police departments to prevent cases from failing due to procedural errors. Additionally, a joint interstate meeting with Karnataka and Goa will be held to address illegal medical equipment movement across borders.
