NEET-UG 2027 May Stay Pen-and-Paper As Nilekani Panel Gets Extension

The NEET-UG exam in 2027 is likely to continue in its pen-and-paper format, with a full shift to computer-based testing considered improbable before 2028. This decision comes as the Nandan Nilekani-led examination reform task force has received an extension until January 27, 2027. Southern states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, have expressed reservations about infrastructure, transparency, and the impact of online exams on rural candidates. The task force's recommendations are now expected to be implemented from 2028 onwards.

NEET-UG परीक्षा 2027 में पेन-एंड-पेपर मोड में ही जारी रहने की संभावना है। कंप्यूटर-आधारित परीक्षा में पूरी तरह से बदलाव 2028 से पहले मुश्किल लग रहा है। यह फैसला इसलिए आया है क्योंकि नंदन निलेकानी की अगुवाई वाली परीक्षा सुधार टास्क फोर्स को 27 जनवरी 2027 तक का समय और मिल गया है। कर्नाटक, तमिलनाडु और केरल जैसे दक्षिणी राज्यों ने इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर, पारदर्शिता और ग्रामीण उम्मीदवारों पर ऑनलाइन परीक्षा के असर को लेकर चिंता जताई है। अब उम्मीद है कि टास्क फोर्स की सिफारिशें 2028 से लागू होंगी।
