Loan Irregularities Found at Irinjalakuda Urban Co-operative Bank

The Fraud Identification Committee (FIC) has identified significant lapses in loan disbursal by the former administrative committee and officials of the Irinjalakuda Town Urban Co-operative Bank. Show-cause notices have been issued to those concerned, demanding explanations for alleged negligence, inadequate appraisal, and poor monitoring of loans. The bank, over 100 years old, is undergoing a forensic audit due to mounting financial irregularities and losses since 2019. The Reserve Bank of India superseded the bank's board in July 2025, leaving over 7,000 depositors uncertain about accessing their savings.

फ्रॉड आइडेंटिफिकेशन कमेटी (FIC) ने इरिंजलकुडा टाउन अर्बन को-ऑपरेटिव बैंक की पूर्व प्रशासनिक समिति और अधिकारियों द्वारा लोन बांटने में बड़ी खामियां पाई हैं। संबंधित लोगों को कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किए गए हैं, जिसमें कथित लापरवाही, अपर्याप्त मूल्यांकन और लोन की खराब निगरानी के लिए स्पष्टीकरण मांगा गया है। 100 साल से अधिक पुराने इस बैंक का फोरेंसिक ऑडिट चल रहा है क्योंकि 2019 से वित्तीय अनियमितताएं और घाटा बढ़ रहा है। रिजर्व बैंक ऑफ इंडिया ने जुलाई 2025 में बैंक के बोर्ड को अपने हाथ में ले लिया था, जिससे 7,000 से अधिक जमाकर्ताओं को अपनी बचत तक पहुंचने को लेकर अनिश्चितता है।
