Army Arms Theft Accused Had Prior Criminal Cases

Retired Army Havaldar U. Mallesh, accused in the Bolarum arms theft case, had two prior criminal cases registered against him before joining the Army in 2010. Investigators revealed a theft case from 2005 and another involving gold and silver theft from 2007. Police are now investigating Mallesh's recruitment into the Army despite his criminal record, while Army officials are conducting their own inquiry. Mallesh allegedly stole the arms and ammunition to implicate his senior officers.
