JNU Hunger Strike Enters 17th Day; MP Seeks President's Intervention

CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas has urged President Draupadi Murmu to intervene in the ongoing hunger strike by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students. The protest, which began on October 3, entered its 17th day, with students demanding the revocation of rustication orders against elected representatives. Brittas, a former JNU student, expressed deep concern over the participants' deteriorating health. He appealed to the President, as the university's Visitor, to take immediate action to resolve the students' grievances and uphold democratic traditions.

CPI(M) के राज्यसभा सांसद जॉन ब्रिट्टस ने जवाहरलाल नेहरू यूनिवर्सिटी (JNU) के छात्रों की चल रही भूख हड़ताल में हस्तक्षेप करने के लिए राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू से आग्रह किया है। 3 अक्टूबर को शुरू हुआ यह विरोध 17वें दिन में प्रवेश कर गया, जिसमें छात्र निर्वाचित प्रतिनिधियों के खिलाफ निष्कासन आदेशों को रद्द करने की मांग कर रहे हैं। ब्रिट्टस, जो JNU के पूर्व छात्र हैं, ने प्रतिभागियों के बिगड़ते स्वास्थ्य पर गहरी चिंता व्यक्त की। उन्होंने राष्ट्रपति से, विश्वविद्यालय के विजिटर के रूप में, छात्रों की शिकायतों को हल करने और लोकतांत्रिक परंपराओं को बनाए रखने के लिए तत्काल कार्रवाई करने की अपील की।
