Supreme Court Refuses Urgent Hearing on West Bengal Govt's Plea Against Interim Bail

The Supreme Court has refused to hear an urgent plea by the West Bengal government challenging the Calcutta High Court's decision to grant interim bail to Congress candidate Milan Pradhan. The state government had sought an immediate hearing, arguing that the bail was granted to allow Pradhan to contest the Nandigram by-election. However, Chief Justice of India Suryakant stated that the matter would be heard, denying the government's request for a hearing on the following day.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार की उस तत्काल याचिका को सुनने से इनकार कर दिया है जिसमें कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट द्वारा कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार मिलन प्रधान को अंतरिम जमानत देने के फैसले को चुनौती दी गई थी। राज्य सरकार ने तत्काल सुनवाई की मांग की थी, यह तर्क देते हुए कि प्रधान को नंदीग्राम उपचुनाव लड़ने की अनुमति देने के लिए जमानत दी गई थी। हालांकि, भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश सूर्यकांत ने कहा कि मामले की सुनवाई होगी, और सरकार के अगले दिन सुनवाई के अनुरोध को अस्वीकार कर दिया।
