US Eyewear Retailer Accused of Sharing Customer Data with Meta
Times of India · technology
A US federal appeals court has revived a privacy lawsuit against eyewear retailer Eyemart Express, reversing a lower court's dismissal. Five plaintiffs allege that Eyemart Express used Meta Pixel tracking on its website to share prescription details and eye-exam scheduling activity with Meta without consent. The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit found that the customers had standing and adequately alleged their health information was shared. The case will now return to the district court for further proceedings, though no violation of law has yet been determined.
