Sitharaman Urges Banks to Boost NRI Deposits

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has asked banks to increase outreach to Non-Resident Indians and develop innovative products to sustain foreign currency deposit growth. Banks are seeing significant NRI interest globally, offering attractive returns on FCNR(B) deposits, including five-year options. This push aims to mobilize more foreign currency inflows into India, strengthening the nation's foreign exchange reserves and supporting economic stability.

वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने बैंकों से कहा है कि वे प्रवासी भारतीयों (एनआरआई) तक अपनी पहुँच बढ़ाएँ और विदेशी मुद्रा जमा की वृद्धि को बनाए रखने के लिए नए उत्पाद विकसित करें। दुनिया भर में एनआरआई की ओर से एफसीएनआर (बी) जमा पर आकर्षक रिटर्न में काफी रुचि देखी जा रही है। इसका मकसद भारत में अधिक विदेशी मुद्रा लाना है, जिससे देश के विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार को मजबूती मिलेगी और आर्थिक स्थिरता बनी रहेगी।
