US Pharma Tariff Starts, Indian Drugs Get Relief

The United States' 100% tariff on specified patented pharmaceutical products and ingredients begins today for more companies. However, qualifying speciality medicines from India will receive zero-tariff treatment. This exemption includes rare-disease drugs, nuclear medicines, plasma-derived therapies, and cell and gene therapies. The zero-tariff status is conditional on trade agreements or urgent US health needs. Generic medicines and their ingredients are not covered by these specific tariffs.
