Tribal Affairs Ministry Launches Craft Development Programme

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched a cluster development programme for three traditional tribal crafts in Tamil Nadu and Odisha. This initiative aims to build sustainable, market-linked livelihood opportunities for artisans, moving beyond conventional welfare. The programme covers Toda embroidery, Dongria embroidery, and Kotpad cotton weaving, benefiting 440 artisans. Each cluster will receive training and production facilities, focusing on product development, branding, and market access to generate sustained incomes while preserving heritage.

जनजातीय कार्य मंत्रालय ने तमिलनाडु और ओडिशा में तीन पारंपरिक जनजातीय शिल्पों के लिए एक क्लस्टर विकास कार्यक्रम शुरू किया है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य पारंपरिक कल्याण से आगे बढ़कर कारीगरों के लिए स्थायी, बाजार से जुड़े आजीविका के अवसर बनाना है। यह कार्यक्रम टोडा कढ़ाई, डोंगड़िया कढ़ाई और कोटपाड सूती बुनाई को कवर करता है, जिससे 440 कारीगरों को लाभ होगा। प्रत्येक क्लस्टर को उत्पाद विकास, ब्रांडिंग और बाजार पहुंच पर ध्यान केंद्रित करते हुए, स्थायी आय उत्पन्न करने और विरासत को संरक्षित करने के लिए प्रशिक्षण और उत्पादन सुविधाएं मिलेंगी।
